MARSHFIELD – Simplicity CU, Marshfield, recently announced that CONE Credit Union member Neenah has voted to approve a proposed merger between the two credit unions, effective July 1.
“At a membership meeting held on June 21, 2021, the results of the merger vote were announced to CONE members, 83% of those who voted approving the merger plan,” a statement from Simplicity said.
“First and foremost,” said Mike Mehlberg, CEO of CONE Credit Union. “I would like to thank the members of CONE Credit Union for their tremendous support…. The past few months have been quite a journey, and our work together is only really just beginning. “
“CONE Credit Union’s current staff and location at 219 W. Cecil Street, Neenah will remain in place to serve members of Neenah and surrounding areas and welcome new members with an expanded membership scope that includes anyone. living or working in Brown, Calumet, Outagamie, Fond du Lac or Winnebago counties, ”the statement added.
In his address to CONE members at their June 21 meeting, Simplicity CEO Nick Faber said: “From the start of this merger process, I saw not two different groups, but a team of people from CONE and Simplicity, all dedicated to improving the lives of their members… I am incredibly happy to be able to officially welcome you all to the Simplicity family.
Plans call for refreshing Neenah’s office over the summer with the Simplicity CU name and brand and integrating all member accounts on one computer system, tentatively in November 2021. An open house is planned more late in 2021.
Based in Neenah, CONE Credit Union was established in 1959 to serve the employees of the town of Neenah. This membership has been extended to anyone living or working in the counties of Brown, Calumet, Outagamie, Fond du Lac or Winnebago. As of June 30, the credit union had approximately 1,500 members.
Based in Marshfield, Simplicity CU currently serves over 25,000 members from locations in Marshfield, Stevens Point, Plover, Neillsville and online at simplicity.coop.
