PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S BASKETBALL CONTINUES THIS WEEK (AND WHERE TO WATCH)
Patriot League play continues Wednesday night with four games starting at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Army West Point puts its two-game winning streak on the line at Lehigh, while Navy will look to bounce back at Bucknell. The American hosts Holy Cross for the second match at the Bender Arena in three days. Boston University travels to Lafayette with both teams entering the game on two-game winning streaks. Five more League games are scheduled for this weekend, including four on Saturday before Bucknell hosts Loyola Maryland on Sunday for a national television audience on CBS Sports Network. PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S BASKETBALL STATISTICAL LEADERS
Loyola Maryland junior guard Cam Spencer leads the Patriot League in scoring (19.4 ppg) and has a 3.2 assist-to-rotation ratio, sixth-best in the NCAA DI. Bucknell senior guard Andrew Funk is second in the league in points (17.2 ppg), preseason player of the year Javante McCoy (16.5 ppg) of Boston placing third. BU graduate student forward Sukhmail Mathon posted 13 double-digit rebounding performances to lead the league and rank 11th in the nation with 10.3 rebounds per game. Holy Cross senior forward Gerrale Gates (8.1 rpg) and Lafayette junior center Neal Quinn (8.1 rpg) are tied for second in the League. Loyola Maryland senior guard Kenneth Jones leads the League in assists (5.1 apg), with Quinn de Lafayette (4.1 apg) second and Bucknell junior guard Xander Rice (3.9) ranking third.

LAFAYETTE’S FRAN O’HANLON ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 2021-22 SEASON
Lafayette men’s basketball head coach Fran O’Hanlon has announced plans to retire after the 2021-22 season. During 27 seasons at College Hill, O’Hanlon guided the Leopards to three League titles and was named Patriot League Coach of the Year four times. He is the Patriot League’s all-time leader with 356 wins and counting and is only one of five coaches to lead the same DI program since the start of the 1995-96 season, along with Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, Davidson’s Bob McKillop and Michigan State’s Tom Izzo.



NAVY LEADS LEAGUE IN NCAA NET RANKINGS
Navy leads the Patriot League at No. 135 in the latest NCAA men’s basketball NET rankings. Defending Patriot League champion Colgate is second at 146th after winning four straight. Preseason favorite Boston University is third among League teams, ranking 189th. 2020-21 League runner-up Loyola Maryland is ranked 242nd. Army West Point (250th) rounds out the League’s top five in NET standings. The 2021-22 season marks the fourth year of the NCAA Rating Tool (NET) rankings, which replaced the RPI as the primary team rating tool.



Carter JR. AND FUNK JOIN THE 1,000 POINTS CLUB
Navy senior guard John Carter Jr. and Bucknell senior guard Andrew Funk became the 148th and 149th Patriot League men’s basketball players to reach 1,000 career points on Saturday. Carter Jr. accomplished the feat in a loss to Army, while Funk hit the mark in the Bison’s first League win of the season at Holy Cross. Funk joined his brother, former All-League guard Tommy Funk (Army West Point ’20), at the 1,000-point Patriot League club. They became the second set of siblings in League history to score more than 1,000 career points, joining Kevin (Bucknell ’06) and Ted Bettencourt (Holy Cross ’96).



RAIDERS AMONG NCAA 3-POINT LEADERS
Colgate leads the Patriot League and ranks 20th in the NCAA DI with a .380 3-point field goal percentage. The Raiders are also 15th in the nation with 10.2 3-pointers per game. Cummings is 36th in the nation (.422) with 3-point percentage. Senior guard Oliver Lynch-Daniels (.490) leads the league, with junior guard Ryan Moffatt placing eight (.400). Fifth-year guard Jack Ferguson (.371) is 15th after leading the league in 3-point field goal percentage last season (.507).



MCCOY CLIMBING LEAGUE SCORES LIST
McCoy scored 13 points in a win over Lehigh (January 22) to move up to 19th on the League’s scoring list. He is fourth in the League this season, averaging 16.5 points, giving him 1,667 career points. McCoy is one of six active men’s basketball players in the League with over 1,000 career points. Teammate Walter Whyte eclipsed 1,000 career points in the Terriers’ loss to Loyola Maryland (Jan. 7), while Colgate 5th-year guard Jack Ferguson reached the milestone Jan. 10 against Army. His teammate Tucker Richardson passed the mark against Bucknell (January 19). Navy’s Carter Jr. and Bucknell’s Funk hit the mark on Jan. 22.

MATHON PLACES IN THE TOP 15 REBOUNDS
BU graduate student forward Sukhmail Mathon is the 18th player in league history to eclipse 700 career rebounds. Mathon recorded 13 rebounds in a win over Lehigh (Jan. 22) to enter the Patriot League’s all-time top 15. Mathon recorded a career-high 18 rebounds in a win over Bucknell on Jan. 1 and is averaging a league-leading 10.3 rebounds per game, 11th in the NCAA DI. Mathon is also eighth in the nation with 10 double-doubles this season. His teammate Walter Whyte is 56th on the all-time list with 577 rebounds.

*Mathon averaged a double-double with 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting 54.2% (13 of 24) from the floor to help the Terriers go 1-1 last week with a win on Lehigh.
* He had his 10th double-double of the season with 23 points and 13 rebounds in Boston University’s 80-74 game against Lehigh on Saturday.
*On Wednesday, the graduate student forward finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to Loyola Maryland.

* Higgins Jr. averaged 15.0 points and 5.0 assists on 48% (11 of 23) shooting from the field to help Lehigh to a 1-1 week with a win over Navy. He scored in double figures in 7 out of 8 league games.
* The freshman guard scored 14 points and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds in Lehigh’s 69-61 win at Navy on Wednesday.
* Higgins Jr. scored 10 of 16 second-half points and dished out eight assists in a loss to Boston University on Saturday.
