Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum to Host New Studio Grand Opening | KAMR

CANYON, Texas (KAMR / KCIT) – Officials from the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum (PPHM) recently announced details of the upcoming dedication ceremony they will be hosting for their Education Credit Union (ECU) history studio ) inside the museum.

According to a press release, the studio’s grand opening will take place at 1 p.m. on December 16 at the museum, located at 2401 4th Ave. at Canyon.

The museum renovated its former education classroom in partnership with the Education Credit Union to become the History Studio, a multi-functional space capable of hosting multiple types of events, the statement said. The space will be showcased by art created by students and alumni of West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) which will rotate regularly.

The declared role of the PPHM: “It is our sacred duty to collect the testimony of life here and to transmit it to the children of the future, is a perfect demonstration of this principle”. This room is also an ideal space for our community for birthdays, business meetings and much more. The works of art on display will rotate and visitors will want to keep coming back to see what’s new.

Museum officials say in the statement that the purpose of the space is to provide teachers and students with a space to come together and learn while visiting the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum.

The culmination of this partnership is evident in the Education Credit Union History Studio, ”said Buster Ratliff, director of operations for the Cultural Foundation of the Texas Panhandle, in the statement. “The Education Credit Union and the PPHM both share the belief that communities are stronger when we work together, and this shared value is demonstrated in this new community gathering place.
