Neighborhood Credit Union proudly sponsors the Cottonwood Art Festival’s Emerging Artists Program and has presented five young artists with scholarships for the 10th year.
Emerging Artist Grant recipients: Summaiyah K. (Best of Show), Emma P. (2nd place), Caroline S. (3rd place), Melody T. (Honourable Mention) and Amanda G. (Honourable Mention). The scholarship amount ranges from $750 to $200 and will go toward college expenses.
“We are extremely grateful to have a partnership with Neighborhood Credit Union, the official sponsor of the Emerging Artist program,” said Serri Ayers, Festival Director. “Tonight really wouldn’t happen without the support or scholarship donation from the Neighborhood Credit Union. They also give every emerging artist the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work at the Cottonwood Art Festival.

For twenty years, the Emerging Artists Program at the Cottonwood Art Festival has worked to recognize young artists from the Richardson Independent School District. This year, submissions came from Richardson High School and JJ Pearce High School, where those accepted into the program have the honor of exhibiting their work at the Charles W. Eiseman Center throughout April. Artists can also sell their artwork if they wish while on display at the internationally award-winning Cottonwood Arts Festival.
About the Cottonwood Arts Festival Emerging Artists Program: The Cottonwood Art Festival Emerging Artists Program is only available to high school students in the Richardson Independent School District. To participate in the program, each student develops an artistic concept, an artist statement and produces images of their work. After review by their art teacher, student works are submitted to Cottonwood Art Festival judges for further selection.
