Large Laois Kildare credit union affected by Covid-19 cases among staff


A credit union with thousands of members in Laois and Kildare has had to revise its opening hours due to cases of Covid-19 among staff.

The People First Credit Union has branches in Portlaoise, Athy, Abbeyleix and Stradbally. A recent outbreak initially has a number of changes.

“Due to Covid 19, we are experiencing downsizing in all branches. As a result, we need to change our hours of operation,” he said.

Management has made the decision to reduce opening hours at all branches as of November 17.

“This decision was made to protect our members, staff and their families. We want to keep Covid out of all branches so that we can continue to serve our members and the community at large.

“We would also like to remind members to only visit the branch for essential services, such as withdrawing funds and making loan repayments. Opening accounts and updating proof of address is only possible. not essential at the moment, ”he said.

The credit union said members can also deposit savings accounts online and repay loans over the phone by contacting our member service center on tel. 057 862 2594.

PFCU thanked members for their continued support and cooperation in helping to protect everyone from Covid 19.

The revisions of the opening hours concerned all the agencies of the group, which has 44 employees and nearly 39,000 members.

The impact continued to be felt through November 27 and the Credit Union advises members to stay in the know by checking its website and social media platforms.
