MID-MICHIAGN, Mich. (WJRT) – ELGA Credit Union kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Friday!
So many of our ABC12 viewers have survived breast cancer, love someone with breast cancer, or are worried about the risk of breast cancer.
Friday was an opportunity to help make a difference in the community – with a sea of roses!
After a year when many cancer patients were also battling COVID-19, organizers said the reason to support those who are fighting is much stronger.
“It’s tough, you try to stay positive, you try to encourage them, but it takes a village and a family and I think everyone is working together to support each other, that’s how you do. “said Mallory Hazard, I am an employee of ELGA.
They don’t have a specific goal this year, but ELGA told ABC12 they received overwhelming support throughout the day.
All proceeds will go to the Hurley Breast Cancer Patient Navigation Program, which provides cancer patients with support and relieves the financial burden so they can focus on treatment, well-being and recovery.
For those who weren’t fortunate enough to stop by Friday to donate, the credit union will be collecting throughout the month. Those who wish can stop by one of their branches to make a donation.
