The Edmonds School District Foundation was selected among the recipients of the Local Heroes Grant Award from the Gesa Credit Union. As one of 23 Washington State recipients, the foundation received funding of $ 5,000.

The foundation will use the funds to benefit educators in the Edmonds School District and their schools through their Classroom and Whole School Grants program. The program provides district staff with additional funding for dozens of innovative projects that enrich all subject areas, at every grade level, helping to provide equal access to meaningful educational experiences for every student.

“Gesa recognizes and appreciates our local heroes who serve our communities across Washington State,” said Richard Waddle, executive vice president of Gesa Credit Union. “We are delighted to honor the invaluable work of the Edmonds School District Foundation, and thank them for their selfless efforts in service to our community. “

The Gesa Credit Union Local Heroes Grants Program provides grants to organizations that support local heroes, including firefighters, law enforcement, teachers, and Washington State veterans.

“Our Classroom Grants program helps ensure that all children in our district have access to experiential and transformative learning experiences,” said Deborah Brandi, Executive Director of the Foundation for Edmonds School District. “We are honored and grateful to receive this award from the Gesa Credit Union and their partnership to support our teachers and educators. “

The Edmonds School District is the largest public school district in Snohomish County, serving over 21,000 students on 35 campuses. The boundaries span five communities, including Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Brier and part of Bothell.
